President's Corner
By Richard Tank, Congregation President
With the celebration of the Feast of the Holy Trinity on May 18th this year we ended the festival half of the church year. During the first half of the church year we focus on the events in the life of Christ. During the second half the emphasis is on Christ's teachings, particularly in the parables. That does not mean there are no significant observances during this half. There are - Reformation Day, All Saints. Then towards the end we emphasize the Lord's second coming before we move to start the cycle again with the beginning of Advent.
Summers can be warm in Chicago. Although our church is not air-conditioned we will try to make it as comfortable as possible with fans. We hope that attendance will not drop off although there will be the usual vacations and summer weekend trips. On the 17th of May we were pleased once again to host a concert of the Edgewater Singers. The theme of their spring concert this year was "War and Pieces" They presented a lot of well-known tunes from the sixties and seventies. Our third voters' meeting of the year took place on June first. Main order of business was the election of officers and board members for the next biennium. The results were as follows:Officers:
